Boston, Ep. 7

March 8, 2012 — Before a jam-packed audience at Cambridge's OBERON, the Literary Death Match turned 6-years old on a night that began with a group-sung Happy Birthday, and finished with Team Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich out-dueling Team Bob Shea in a titanic game of Pin the Mustache on Hemingway, in which Marzano-Lesnevich won by a length of seven whiskers to become the LDM Boston, Ep. 7 champion.

Boston, Ep. 5

January 25, 2011 — On an icy northeast evening, the Literary Death Match returned to Cambridge's Enormous Room for an electric night of literary and comedic merriment (a sold out night!) that saw PEN Discovery Award-winner and New York Tyrant rep Eugenio Volpe overtake Best American Short Stories series editor Heidi Pitlor (author of The Birthdays) in a hotly contested (and longest-ever) match of Literary Memory by a score of 15 to 11 to win the first LDM crown of 2011.

Boston, Ep. 3

April 22, 2010 — An epic night at Cambridge's Enormous Room served up genius judging, genius readings, and a literary Hockey-Baseball Book-Knock-Over Shootout that saw Beacon Press reader-rep Jay Wexler outsnipe Quick Fiction reader-representative Christen Enos 3-2 in overtime, making Wexler Boston's latest Literary Death Match Champion.

Boston, Ep. 2

January 13, 2010—Literary Death Match’s return to Massachusetts for Boston, Ep. 2 to celebrate Opium9: The Mania Issue was a wild and talent-rich success that finished with a calamitous Musical Chairs finale led by one-mademoiselle-band Audrey Ryan, who plucked random tunes on her ukelele.  When the rubble settled, Handsome’s Janaka Stucky had come back from an improbable 3-1 deficit to beat out Open LettersElisa Gabbert, and be crowned the latest LDM champion.

Boston, Ep. 1

May 21, 2009—LDM Boston Ep. 1 at The Paradise Lounge was a mess of poor lighting, corrupted microphone, and a battle of the guitar-banging bands a doorway away. And yet. Amongst the whirl of near-disaster, it proved that prettily written prose, when properly performed, is rife with absolute might, and we count the Beantown debut, ultimately, as a success. The wild night finished with Stuff Boston's Jeannie Greeley out-Lit-Tea-Partying co-finalist Steve Almond en route to Massachusetts' first-ever LDM crown.
