SF, Ep. 64

October 7, 2017 — For our glorious return to SF, Literary Death Match returned to Elbo Room for a sensational night of words, comedy and wonderment presented by Litquake, that saw JiaJing Liu outduel Molly Giles in  a down-to-the-wire Visual Literary Riddles finale that won Liu the LDM SF, Ep. 64 crown, and literary immortality to go with it.

SF, Ep. 31

July 9, 2010 — LDM SF's 31st episode came to a creamy climax when spoken-word artist Kirya Traber raised her face, smeared with white goo, to the mic and gasped, “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times … A Tale of Two Cities!” narrowly out-pie-eating/quoting/citing memoirist Andre Perry for the crown.

SF, Ep. 20

The Battle of the Independent Bookstores was, indeed, a battle for the ages.  Episode 20 kicked off with two handsome readers: Jade Brooks (City Lights), who “out-booted” co-host Alana Conner with a pair of mighty tough hiking boots and Derek Powazek (The Booksmith).   Powazek took the stage first and left the audience somewhere between laughter and tears with a tale of a sexy tour guide in the Warsaw Ghetto.  Brooks was equally dazzling with prose poetry that Performance Judge Andrew Lam likened to a beautiful painting.  A tough call but beautiful Literary Merit Judge Beth Spotswood announced that Derek would advance to second round.
