April 5, 2018 — Literary Death Match went back-to-back — two shows in two nights — and the second, at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, was excellence abound, as Sara Faith Alterman took down Matthew Siegel in a down-to-the-wire battle of Arithme-Lit to win Alterman the LDM SF, Ep. 66 crown, and literary immortality to go with it.

Miami, Ep. 8

November 19, 2016 — Our annual drop-in to the Miami Book Fair International (at the author's party) was a single hour of absolute bliss, a magical show that finished with Kim Addonizio toppling Ali Eteraz in a fierce Lone Star Lit II battle that went down to the wire, with Addonizio nailing the final question to win her the LDM Miami, Ep. 8 crown, and literary immortality to go with it.

In a historic finale that Literary Death Match historians will debate for centuries to come, poets Monica Youn (Ignatz) and Dean Rader (Works & Days) simultaneously pieced together and recognized the famous face of Hunter S. Thompson, resulting in the first tie ever in San Francisco LDM history.

SF, Ep. 11

Bras were flying, fists were cuffing, and harmonicas were wailing at LDM SF Episode XI. And that was just the first performance, during which Litquake’s Kim Addonizio read her poems, unbound her breasts and knuckles, and blew on her mouth harp. Kim went on not only to win Round 1, but also to stomp out Round 2’s winner in the final challenge: a full-body audience-participation scavenger hunt.
